Greetings from the year 2001 and we hope that everyone had a happy and safe New Year period. I must admit, I’m still not used to the idea of the year 2000, let alone 2001. But I guess that by the end of the year, we’ll all be tired of hearing the word "Odyssey" anywhere near the year 2001!
We’re looking forward to an exciting year at Riada. We have major updates currently in development for our entire product range, plus new product ranges in the works, and we have just completed a redesign of our web site. Stay tuned for news of when these will be released later in the year.

We have just completed a redesign of the Riada web site! After much input from many of you, we have changed the look and made things easier and quicker to find. A couple of sections such as RiadaWorkshop are currently being updated, but they should be back online in a few weeks time with updated information. We also have other exciting plans for the site, such as a better range of support information, which will be rolled out over the course of the year. Thanks to all of you who have already expressed positive input regarding the new look site.

*Bandwidth Woes*
Does your web site seem to be using a lot of bandwidth? If you have a Riada product that is reading its data from a file, you may be able to reduce your usage.
Make sure that project is not reading from the file too frequently. This is controlled in the Input Details dialog box, which is accessed from the Details... button on the Output tab. By default, the frequency is set at 300 seconds (every 5 minutes). Most visitors will not remain on a page for more than 5 minutes and therefore the data file is never reread. But if you have set this value low (ie 10 seconds), you may be receiving a request to read the data file every 10 seconds a visitor is remains on your page.
This value only needs to be set below the default value if you are displaying dynamic information that is changing frequently, such as from a database. Otherwise, you should leave the value at the default 300 seconds.
*Multiple Projects on the One Page*
It seems that putting multiple projects on the one page often causes some confusion, due to people not being sure if they need to rename class files. For example, it is sometimes desirable to have more than one RiadaHeadline project on the one page.
Actually, it’s very easy, as there are no problems with renaming class files. Multiple Java applets on the one page *share* the one set of class files, so you do not need to rename the class files. In fact, it is not possible to just rename Java class files, as the name is also kept internally, and Java makes a check before executing the applet.
So you don't need to do anything. Just paste the generated HTML code segments from the projects into your page, and they will all share the same set of class files. However, if your projects read a data file, then they should be named uniquely for each product, otherwise both projects will also share the data file.

Select "Knauf in Europe" from the menu, then move your cursor over the map legend and watch the different sites appear in the map, which contains a massive 83 buttons including the legend!

For minor league ice hockey scores, news, schedules, on-line store, forum and more, visit this hot US site and see how they've made excellent use of RiadaBillboard with animated images to display advertisements, and RiadaHeadline with a background image to display the latest ice hockey news.

TV Maastricht
This Dutch TV station from Maastricht has found a unique use for RiadaHeadline as a menu with animated images and links, and has seamlessly integrated it into its very stylish web site. To visit different areas of the site just click the changing green images that appear on the right side of each page. You've got to see this!
